Jennifer Aniston has lashed out at her critics, insisting she's sick of the constant negative attention surrounding her personal life.
The former Friends star hit headlines in July when she wrote an impassioned op-ed for the Huffington Post criticizing the objectification of women in the media, after news outlets ran stories speculating she was pregnant after she was pictured with what looked like a baby belly.
Jennifer is now further detailing her thoughts and feelings about the stories that swirl around her in a new Marie Claire interview, stating, "My marital status has been shamed; my divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed; my nipples have been shamed. It's like, 'Why are we only looking at women through this particular lens of picking us apart? Why are we listening to it?' I just thought, 'I have worked too hard in this life and this career to be whittled down to a sad, childless human!'"
In the Huffington Post article, the 47-year-old also lambasted aggressive tabloid editors and online gossips who are always chasing a scoop about her: "I'm fed up with the sport-like scrutiny and body shaming that occurs daily under the guise of 'journalism,' the 'First Amendment,' and 'celebrity news,'" she added.
"Every day my husband (Justin Theroux) and I are harassed by dozens of aggressive photographers staked outside our home who will go to shocking lengths to obtain any kind of photo, even if it means endangering us or the unlucky pedestrians who happen to be nearby.
"Setting aside the public safety aspect, I want to focus on the bigger picture of what this insane tabloid ritual represents to all of us."
Following her piece, the actress was praised for speaking out by fellow celebrities including Chrissy Teigen and Melissa McCarthy, and her husband was also glad she took a stand.
"I was very proud of what she wrote," he told Men's Health magazine. "It was a rare insight into how disgusting all that is. At some point it becomes bullying."
"It sucks when people aim cameras at your stomach on some bizarre womb watch," he added.
