Judy Ann Santos just won the Best Actress award at the prestigious 41st Cairo International Film Festival. Wow!
The Starla actress bagged the award for her role in Mindanao, a film directed by Brillante Mendoza. She played a Muslim woman who has to look after her daughter who is sick with cancer, while her husband works as a medic in a conflict zone.
The official Facebook page of Mindanao shared the news earlier today, along with photos of the trophies. That's because the film also won the prize for Best Artistic Contribution.
Judy Ann got super emotional on Instagram, talking about how she reacted when she heard the news.
Nora Aunor also won the Best Actress award in 1995 for her role in The Flor Contemplation Story, making Judy Ann the second actress to have won the prestigious award.
Congrats, Judy Ann!
