Will 2019 be a year for Filipina beauty queens? Karen Gallman, the Philippines’ bet for Miss Intercontinental 2018, is set to compete for the crown on January 26 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
If Karen wins, it will be the first time that the Philippines will win the coveted crown. The country came close to taking home the crown with Christi McGarry and Katarina Rodriguez finishing first runner-up in 2015 and 2017, respectively.
Touted as a lookalike of Kendall Jenner, the Filipino-Australian beauty queen who hails from Bohol started her journey with Binibining Pilipinas in 2012, placing in the Top 15. She then finished her tertiary education and moved to London to work as an operations analyst. She says the experience allowed her to travel to many parts of the world.
To prepare for the pageant, Karen said that she has been practicing her walk, the Q&A portion, and working out a lot. In this Instagram post, Karen shared how excited she is to compete and even gave a sample of her walk:
