ICYMI: Preview recently released their November 2023 cover with Kathryn Bernardo as the cover star. Clad in just a red heart bikini by Randolf and Alexander Wang trousers with her locks chopped into a short bob, Kath definitely *broke* the internet with her most daring cover yet! Photographed by Charisma Lico, the cover featured two photos: one where she is standing still and the other where she is seen screaming at herself. *A Very Good Girl* gone bad, indeed!
On the cover story, the 27-year-old actress talks about maturing on her own terms and slowly but surely shedding her "good girl" image as the Teen Queen. Despite doing so, Kath never forgets to look back on her roots and even thanks them and calls them "vital" to her growth.
"I feel like 'yung mga nagawa ko, it was just perfect for my age. Perfect for my fans as well," she explains. "Hindi ako na-limit, because I'm very vocal kung ano 'yung gusto ko at kung ano 'yung ayaw ko."
Having a good relationship with her management also helped her in cherry-picking her roles and allowed her to have a say in what she gets to do. "I'm very open with [my] management. If I don't like it, they don't force [me]. Kapag may ’di ako comfortable gawin, I say no politely. And I think 'yun 'yung nakatulong talaga, na kailangan mo gawin 'yung mga bagay nagpapasaya sa'yo."
Much has been said about the expectations that hang over former child stars and how they should be a role model to others, but Kath doesn't let them get to her head. "Nung tumanda ako, I [no longer think] of the pressure of being a 'good girl,' because I don't want to be good just because I have to be good. I don't want to lose myself," she shares.
She adds: "Basta wala akong nasasaktan na ibang tao, then I'm okay. Especially now, I feel like mas kilala ko na sarili ko. So I don't have to please everybody. I just do things that make me happy."
