Kathryn, James, And Maja Are Finally Back—And Their New Streamable Series Is All About Dating Apps And Modern Love

Published on Feb 9, 2026
If you've been craving a teleserye that hits you right in the feels, Someone, Someday might just be your next emotional investment. And since 2026 is shaping up to be the new 2016 (hello, peak kilig era), the series brings together the fan-favorite stars who made us believe in love stories growing up.
Starring Kathryn Bernardo and James Reid, alongside Maja Salvador, the show tells a heartfelt story about love, second chances, and the kind of connections that come when you least expect them.
At the Next on Netflix Philippines event, the cast and creators shared what makes the series worth adding to your watchlist. The story follows a woman who, after being emotionally drained by past relationships, creates a modern dating app designed to help women find real love. But while she's busy fixing other people's love lives, she slowly starts rediscovering what love could look like for her, too.
'Someone, Someday' Brings Filipino Modern Love To A Global Audience
For directors Chad Vidanes and Dolly Dulu, bringing the series to Netflix is a big moment—not just for the show, but for Filipino storytelling.
"It's such a privilege to share this story on Netflix kasi this platform has such a wide range globally," shared Chad. "I feel that it's very important to share the Filipino core values—how we Filipinos love—to the world because love is such a universal language."
Dolly added that the platform opens doors to a different kind of audience. "Since this is a series, this has a different market. And since Netflix has become part of everyone's lives, it's a wonderful experience and a good opportunity to tell our stories to them."

The series also marks the long-awaited teleserye comeback of Kathryn, James, and Maja—a.k.a. three stars we've seriously missed seeing daily on our screens.
For Kathryn, she admitted that returning to a long-form series after her 2022 project 2 Good 2 Be True took some adjustment. "I'm just being patient with myself because I want to give myself enough time to get to know my character," she shared.
Meanwhile, Maja, who went on hiatus for the birth of her first child, revealed that her character is more layered than the strong roles she's played before. With more emotional complexity to unpack, she shared that her own life experiences helped her better understand the character's choices and motivations.
Someone, Someday is James' first teleserye in nearly 10 years, and he admitted to feeling nervous stepping back into the format. Still, he quickly found a connection with his character, Jordan. "I would say he's a true best friend—he's always there for you and wouldn't let you down," he said, adding that he relates to that kind of loyalty in his own life.
The role also taps into his passion for music, with James revealing that he's writing one of the songs for the show (we're so ready to add it to our playlist). "Some things can't be said—you just need to put it into a song, and I feel that way too," he confessed.
Beyond the romance, the directors highlighted how the series reflects the realities of modern dating. Yes, that includes meeting people through apps—and no, the show isn't judging you for it. According to Dolly, the goal is to normalize the fact that online dating is now part of our world. While technology makes connections instant, she emphasized that "the work comes after," and the series ultimately empowers women "to make their choices, to stand their ground, to be who they are unapologetically."
The cast also believes that authenticity will help the story resonate beyond Filipino audiences. Kathryn shared that one of their main goals was to keep the characters real and imperfect so viewers can connect with their flaws and emotions.
And even though Jordan might always be there for you, James laughed at his character being labeled a "green flag." Hmmm, we're a little suspicious, but that's exactly what Maja is teasing: the series also comes with mystery, suspense, and plenty of twists to keep us hooked.
Someone, Someday is coming to Netflix in 2026, and you can catch it a full 72 hours before it premieres on free TV.
