Kathryn Bernardo And James Reid Are Officially(!) Returning To Primetime As A New Love Team

Kathryn Bernardo's return to the primetime scene wasn't expected. Another surprise? Her brand-new love team partner. You heard that right! Kathryn will have a new leading man for her upcoming project, and it's none other than actor-singer James Reid, who's also making his teleserye comeback after an eight-year acting hiatus.

Dreamscape Philippines officially launched the tandem with a sneak peak Instagram video, hinting at a new teleserye. The teaser video featured a photoshoot setting where James approaches Kathryn and asks, "Kath, ready ka na ba?"

"Someone is joining her… and it's none other than James Reid!" the caption read.

The announcement continued: "The powerhouse tandem you never saw coming. Asia's Superstar—Kathryn Bernardo and Multimedia Prince—James Reid, together in a teleserye from Dreamscape Entertainment."

While full details about the project have yet to be revealed, it's clear that James will play the leading man to Kathryn.

This definitely marks a big turn for James, who just last year opened up in an interview with Ogie Diaz about why love team projects were no longer part of his career plans.

"I don't think that's happening. There's still that undying support that I'm always grateful for. Even as I transition to music, nandoon pa rin sila to promote my music and support," he said at the time.

But it seems things have shifted. In the most recent interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, James hinted at his primetime return, teasing fans about a major project.

"I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say that, but definitely, we're shooting this year... We have a script, we have a story, and we have a cast. I'm very excited to announce it, but not yet," he revealed.

"I can't really say who I'm working with now, but I think the fans will be very surprised," he added. In his April Cosmo Crush interview, he also hinted that his acting comeback will be one that will blow people away.

As for Kathryn, this project comes after more than a decade as part of the KathNiel love team, which ended following her split with Daniel Padilla in 2023. James, on the other hand, was previously paired with his former partner Nadine Lustre on hit projects such as On The Wings Of Love and Para Sa Hopeless Romantic.

We can't wait to see what this duo will serve, because they were definitely missed on the TV screen!
