Disinformation and fake news are on the rise. While some people choose silence, actress Nadine Lustre chose to call one out and remind us that not everything we see on the internet is credible.

The Fake Nadine Lustre Post That Went Viral

Chismis Vlog's, a Facebook page claiming to share news about celebrities and their alleged quotable quotes, went viral for posting a quote card attributed to Nadine.

The quote card claimed Nadine endorsed the so-called "Mirror Method": "I started using the 'Mirror Method'. 'Di ka nila binati nung birthday mo? Don't greet them also. ‘Di ka nila inaya sa gala, 'wag mo din silang yayain. 'Di ka nila chin-check? STOP checking on them too. Just give them the same energy they're giving to you. Trust me, life feels light when you do this," the quote card said.

As of writing, the post has 143,000 reactions, 3,479 comments, and 55,000 shares.

Here's the catch: Nadine never actually made that a statement.

She debunked the quote card, clarifying that she did not say it at all. The actress shared the said post with the caption: "Parang di ko naman po sinabi yan."

"Tong mga chismis blogs na 'to makapag post lang talaga ng content eh… Baka sa Q4 buntis nanaman ako ah?" she further commented.

Taking the matter further, Nadine posted separately on Facebook, expressing her real thoughts on the so-called "mirroring method."

"I honestly don't believe in mirroring coldness just because someone chose to forget, ignore, or not show up… Para sa akin, hindi mo kailangang suklian ang kakulangan ng iba," Nadine expressed.

"Mas mahalaga pa rin na piliin mong maging mabuti, kahit walang kapalit. Because kindness isn't for them, it's for YOUR soul," she added.
She emphasized that when burning bridges, what truly matters is taking care of one's soul, not your ego.

"It's not resentment that sets you free. It's the quiet, steady peace of knowing you've already forgiven them, even if they never asked. You let go not because they deserve it, but because YOU deserve peace," she added.

While the fake quote card may appear harmless at first glance, even with its seemingly positive message, Nadine highlighted an important truth: fake is still fake. Her callout is a reminder to think twice before believing or sharing content online.

This is not the first time that this has happened to celebrities and public figures. At the height of the midterm elections, Vice Ganda was also a victim of fake quote cards, with posts falsely claiming she praised former President Rodrigo Duterte's administration for increased safety and reduced crime.

Vice quickly denied the statements, urging fans to help report the posts.

"I never stated this. Pls report," Vice posted on X.
