Kim Chiu Is Embracing Her 30s—And She's Not Afraid To Show A Little Skin

She's done the rom-coms, the dramas, the lighthearted roles—and now, Kim Chiu is ready to show a whole new side of herself. At 35, the It's Showtime host and actress is embracing her 30s with a new kind of boldness—and her latest series, The Alibi, is proof.

At the blue carpet premiere and media conference of the murder-mystery romance with Paulo Avelino, Kim got candid (and emotional!) when asked about her daring scenes in the show, including one where her character performs a sensual dance. It's the first time she's shown this much skin on-screen, and she's handling it with grace and humor.

"Siguro naman as a 35-year-old woman, tapos na tayo sa 16-year-old role na teeny-teeny," Kim shared with a laugh. "Pero favorite ko talaga ‘yung mag-teeny-teeny, magpatawa. Pero pag tina-track ko ‘yung journey ko dito sa industriyang ito, parang nahati ko na siya sa teens, twenties. Sabi ko, ano ang ipapakita ko sa aking 30s? I think it's my skin!"

It was a lighthearted moment, but also one that showed how much Kim has grown. The actress—who started as the bubbly teen from Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition—has spent nearly two decades proving that she's more than just a "teeny-teeny" lead. From rom-coms like My Binondo Girl to the revenge drama Linlang, she's been gradually stepping out of her comfort zone.

This time, in The Alibi, Kim takes on her most mature transformation yet as a sex worker named Stella Morales.

"Medyo mahirap na gawin pero gusto ko lang magpakita ng bago," Kim shared, tearing up as she thanked Dreamscape Entertainment for trusting her with the role. "Sa mga nagsasabing hindi ako marunong sa ganitong klaseng role, eto na ‘yun. I want to prove all of them wrong and show that I can do more than what they know."

After years of being typecast as the charming, sweet girl-next-door, Kim is redefining what sexy and empowered look like in your 30s.

And true to her playful spirit, she capped it off with a laugh: "Ang ganda ng launching ng body ko, thank you so much!"

The Alibi follows Vincent Cabrera (played by Paulo), a wealthy journalist accused of murder, who hires star dancer Stella Morales (played by Kim) to pose as his alibi—only for their fake arrangement to spiral into something dangerously real.

The series premieres on Prime Video on November 7, with two new episodes every Friday in the Philippines and over 240 countries worldwide.
