My Love From The Star actor Kim Soo Hyun has been released from military service as of yesterday, July 1, 2019. The star got himself enlisted back in October 2017.
The K-drama actor took to Instagram to share a photo of himself (looking all cute) in his military uniform:
When translated to English, his post says that he's been in good health.
Fan reports say he served in the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, stationed in a high-risk demilitarized zone.
During a meeting at the Imjingak Peace Bell in Paju in South Korea's Gyeonggi Province, he addressed members of the media and fans, saying how it hasn't quite sunk in yet that he's been discharged. He also shares how he feels "somewhat liberated."
Kim Soo Hyun also expressed his concern because he was a bit older than others joining the army. But he has no regrets joining the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion.
"While I was in the military, I trained hard just like any other soldier, and I was even awarded the title of 'Special Class Soldier,'" he said. "I worked hard and did my very best."
He also shared that while no projects have been finalized yet, he's excited to go back to acting.
"I thought a lot and worried about many things during my time in the military, but right now, I really want to act. Nothing has been decided yet in terms of projects, but I think I'll be working hard and greeting you through new projects starting around next year or so."
Congratulations Soo Hyun, and we can't wait to see you soon in a new K-drama!
