Kylie Verzosa is one proud actress as she had the chance to represent the Philippines once again on the international stage! On November 4, Kylie received her award for Best Actress at the Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards (DIAFA) 2022 held in Dubai for her role in the erotic thriller The Housemaid.
In an Instagram post, Kylie wrote, "Dream come true! Thank you, Dubai @diaofficial. Such an honor to represent you again."
In her acceptance speech, Kylie said, "Six years ago when I won the international title for the Philippines, it was such a joyous moment for me. Today, I feel like winning another crown, and this time, for Best Actress. Nothing ever beats the feeling of winning something for your own country because of your own hard work."
Kylie also gave a shout-out to the hardworking OFWs to whom she dedicated her award. "I would like to dedicate this award to all the Filipinos out there. The hardworking Filipinos who have sacrificed their time, their happiness, and their efforts for the sake of their own country, but most of all, for their families."
"I feel like an actress but I believe that my responsibility goes beyond entertainment," Kylie said. "I believe my responsibility is to tell truthfully and honestly the stories of hope and encouragement and that's what The Housemaid has meant to me."
Kylie's Best Actress win at the DIAFA was first reported in October 2022. The film is a remake of the 2010 film of the same name and tells the story of a maid who was tasked to look after a daughter who comes from a rich family. She catches the eye of the father and they are soon entangled in a sexual relationship.
