Lea Salonga And Rachelle Ann Go Are Back To Perform In 'Les Misérables The World Tour Spectacular'

Pinoy musical fans are in for a treat! Lea Salonga and Rachelle Ann Go are coming home to perform in the highly anticipated Les Misérables: The World Tour Spectacular that's set to be staged at The Theater at Solaire from January 20 to March 1, 2026.

You may be wondering: How is this different from the OG musical... and why is it described as "spectacular?" Well, according to GMG Productions, the show is an expansion of the successful Les Misérables The Staged Concert, which played for over 200(!) record-breaking performances in London's West End.

It features an extraordinary new design and an electrifying production enhanced with new set and lighting designs, bringing to life Cameron Mackintosh's critically acclaimed production on a scale never seen before in Manila. The company and crew comprises over 110 people, including an international all-star cast and a large ensemble of musicians, both Filipino and international, performing live on stage.

"We're incredibly honored to bring Les Misérables: The World Tour Spectacular to Manila, and we're equally delighted to see Filipino talent represented both on stage and among the musicians," said GMG Productions CEO Carlos Candal. "This production is a celebration of world-class artistry, and we're thrilled for Filipino audiences to experience it."

Lea isn't new to the world of Les Misérables. ICYDK, she's performed as various characters in the show: first as Éponine (the first Asian actress to take on the role!) during the original Broadway production, followed by a run as Fantine during the show's 2006 revival. She came back to perform as Éponine in the 10th Anniversary concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 1996 and as Fantine in the 25th Anniversary concert at the O2 in 2010. This time around, she'll transform into Madame Thenardier, the innkeeper's wife who takes in Fantine and eventually her daughter Cosette.

Rachelle will once again step into the shoes of Fantine, a young Parisian woman who gets pregnant and is abandoned by a rich student, forcing her to look after their child, Cosette, on her own and enter into a life of a sex worker to survive. This is shown in her solo, "I Dreamed A Dream."

ICYDK, Rachelle previously played the role in the West End production and the UK/Ireland tour. Most recently, she reprised the role for Les Misérables: The Arena Spectacular World Tour in Australia and Europe this year.

Emily Bautista will reprise her role as Éponine, which she first took on during the musical US tour in 2017. The Massachusetts-raised Pinay will sing "On My Own", reflecting the character's unrequited love for Marius Pontmercy (played by Will Callan), a student who became embroiled in the show's rebellious movement.

Red Concepción makes his Les Miz comeback as the innkeeper Thénardier, who he first portrayed at The Muny, St. Louis Municipal Opera Theatre. This musical veteran also performed in popular roles and shows including the likes of Amos Hart in Chicago on Broadway, The Engineer in Miss Saigon on tour across the US and the UK and Ireland, and Adam/ Felicia in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert in Manila and Singapore. BTW, the last one earned him the Gawad Buhay Award for Outstanding Male Actor in a Musical and Aliw Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

They will be joined by Gerónimo Rauch (Les Misérables, Jesus Christ Superstar) as Jean Valjean, Jeremy Secomb (Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street) as Javert, Will Callan as Marius, Lulu-Mae Pears as Cosette, Harry Chandler as Enjolras, and Earl Carpenter as the Bishop of Digne.
