Michael Sager is finally setting the record straight about his relationship with Cassy Legaspi. The actor confirmed that while they are now simply good friends, there was a time when they shared something special.

In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph published on July 28, 2026, the actor talked fondly about Cassy and their relationship. "I'm friends with the people that I met in the industry... especially si Cassy na gentle talaga, kaibigan ko until now."

That said, Michael also admitted that the dating rumors weren't entirely baseless. According to him, the two did go through a stage where they had what Filipinos would call an M.U., a.k.a. a "mutual understanding."

"Nagka-MU..? Siguro we really had something naman… We had something special going on between us and, yeah, I mean, I'm not hiding it with her or anything."

Michael said there wasn't any dramatic reason behind it. As life went on, they simply found themselves prioritizing other things. Now 23, while Cassy is 25, the actor said both have since entered different stages of their lives.

"Siguro the times have changed lang, and it comes to a level of personal na a bit of something that we just decide on ourselves. And ganun talaga... she's also very young. I'm still also young, focusing on [my] career, and I'm just happy that we had good memories together," he said.

How Michael And Cassy's Dating Rumors Started

Michael and Cassy first became friends after co-hosting the noontime show Tahanang Pinakamasaya, which ended its run in 2024. Their easy chemistry and playful interactions on-screen quickly got fans wondering whether something was happening off-camera, too.

At the time, Cassy was being linked to Darren Espanto, while Michael was part of Sparkle U's loveteam with Zephanie.

As the rumors continued, Michael eventually hinted that Cassy might have been the answer to one of his prayers. He said in an interview he wasn't actively looking for a relationship yet, but had simply asked God to show him signs if the right person came along.

"Sabi ko, 'Lord, I'm not asking, I'm not expecting. But when it comes to my love life, give me signs.' And you know, siguro the fact that I accepted the peace na to be single muna, when the right time comes it happens eh. And siguro that's God's timing."

He then revealed who that person was. "So when He answered that prayer, I met a girl and we developed a good relationship together. Si Cassy [Legaspi] po." He added, "We're happy naman being good friends."

The following year, on Valentine's Day 2025, PEP.ph asked Michael whether he already had plans with Cassy. He kept things playful and stopped short of confirming anything. "Siguro po, we'll try [to] get some dinner… spend time together. We'll see, we'll see kung ano ang mangyayari."

Back then, Michael was also starring alongside Jillian Ward in the rom-com series My Ilongga Girl.

Later that year, Michael entered the Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition house. However, his journey ended in April after his duo with Emilio Daez failed to secure a spot in the Big Four.

And just a few months after leaving the PBB house, Michael reunited with Cassy for their first acting project together in June 2025—and fans couldn't help but root for them all over again. The pair starred opposite each other in Regal Studio Presents: Fishing for Love, directed by Cassy's dad, Zoren Legaspi.

Then, in August 2025, Michael finally addressed the rumors more openly during an episode of Fast Talk With Boy Abunda. He admitted that his "heart is very happy" and confirmed that he and Cassy had "something special."

He also shared that he had grown close to Cassy's parents, whom he now considers "parent figures." ICYDK, Michael had previously worked with Cassy's mom, Carmina Villarroel, in Abot Kamay Na Pangarap before eventually working with Zoren as well.

"Si Tita Mina, I first worked with her sa Abot Kamay Na Pangarap, and then I didn't know that we will have a close relationship together, same with Tito Z," Michael said.

As of writing, Cassy has yet to share her side of the story. She recently concluded her major project Hating Kapatid, which aired its final episode on March 21, 2026. Meanwhile, Michael is booked and busy on his newest YouTube vlog series, Boyfriend 101, where he shares first-time experiences with his friend Sean Lucas and talks about love and relationship tips.
