Mika Salamanca is every woman right now. She's now pursuing her dreams as a celebrity, an author, a singer—and now, a movie actress.
Yup, our Cosmopolitan Philippines September 2025 cover girl is starring in her first-ever Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) movie, titled Call Me Mother. Not only that, but get this: She's cast with none other than Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre.
Clearly, it's a feat for the Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition Big Winner—she's making her dreams come true one by one! In our chat with her back on August 14, 2025, Mika expressed just how elated she is to be part of something big at this point in her career.
"Sobrang nakakataba po ng puso kasi makakasama mo sa isang screen si Miss Nadine Lustre tsaka Vice Ganda. Syempre napakataas po ng mga tao na yun tas MMFF pa and first time ko po magkaka-movie talaga and sa MMFF pa," she happily told Cosmo.
Mika excitedly added that she's gonna do everything in her capacity to prove that she's worthy of the role given to her in the movie.
"Sobrang nakakataba po ng puso na pinagkatiwalaan po kami... sobrang excited ko po and syempre ibibigay po namin talaga lahat mag workshop po kami para dito talaga para po hindi po masayang yung pagpili sa amin talaga," the celebrity noted.
Earlier this week, Mika, along with other ex-PBB housemates, Brent Manalo, Shuvee Etrata, Esnyr, and Klarisse De Guzman, were seen posing in a photo posted online by GMA Sparkle Artist Center. It was reportedly taken by Call Me Mother's film director, Jun Robles Lana.
Over on X, the unkabogable star even posted, "Pack up! Pamilya De Guzman's first day on the set of #CallMeMother ! Super riot!" Sounds exciting!!
Mika Salamanca on working with Brent Manalo on 'Call Me Mother'
At the time of our interview, there wasn't much that Mika could tell Cosmo. They were still at the early stages of their preparations for the film. But despite that, we got to talk about how thrilled and comfortable she is to work with Brent on the said film.
It was a given fact, knowing that they were undergoing workshops together, they're poised to work together on acting projects (👀)—and one of those is Call Me Mother.
We all know how close Mika and Brent are. They finished strong as a duo, and even in the outside world, Mika assures that they are a duo for life. Their connection remains strong on and off-cam.
But on-camera, Mika illustrates how easy it is for her to deal with Brent as an actor. "Working with him [Brent] is really easy eh. Para lang kami naglalaro, para lang kami gumagawa ng task pagka-magkasama kami."
She added, "Sa lahat ng trabaho [namin] hindi siya talaga pakiramdam na nagtatrabaho kami. Pagka-kasundo mo yung katrabaho mo, magaan. And with Brent, dahil sobrang komportable ko po sa kanya madali po lahat."

What is the plot of 'Call Me Mother'?
Call Me Mother is a comedy-drama that tells how a single queer mother, Twinkle, proves that motherhood is all about devotion and not just because of blood when her adoptive son, Angel, forms a bond with his biological relative, Mara.
As ABS-CBN reported, "Twinkle goes the extra mile to assure and to prove to Mara that she is a caring and capable mother to her adoptive son, Angel."
The film is written by Daisy G. Cayanan, Daniel S. Saniana, and Jun Robles Lana. It is also a co-production between ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc., The IdeaFirst Company, and Viva Communications Inc.
Call Me Mother is a reunion project of Vice Ganda and Nadine, as well as MMFF debut of the PBB: Celebrity Collab housemates.
