Three candidates have been disqualified from Miss PH Earth (MPE) after failing to meet the height requirement.

On Thursday, July 14, Angela Okol of Surigao, Cess Cruz of Antipolo, and Renee Coleen Sta. Teresa of Batangas were removed from the pageant's roster as they were not at least 5 feet and four inches tall. On that day, candidates were measured at the MPE Base at the Carousel Mansion in Mandaluyong.

Speaking to ABS-CBNMPE organizer Lorraine Schuck explained that the height requirement has been strictly implemented for the last 22 years.

"I am sad at nakakahinayang talaga kasi ang gaganda nila and they’re bright but we also have to be fair with other candidates who have complied with the requirements," Lorraine said.

The ladies—who were already halfway through to the finals—shared their feelings on their IG accounts, following the announcement of the pageant's Top 20.

"Had we been measured earlier on and that this was the case, it would have been much easier to figure out what to do since we’ve already prepared all that was sent as requirements for both our online and face-to-face competition," Angela wrote in an IG post. "Nevertheless, I hold nothing against Miss Philippines Earth’s environmental advocacies and queens, and I am still grateful for the opportunity given to me."

"Things may not have ended the way I hoped, but every cloud has a silver lining," Cess, meanwhile, shared on IG.

"Please do not worry about me… I’m alright. Moving forward to the next level of my destiny!"
