MJ Lastimosa has had enough of the bashing of Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo on not wearing the headpiece that came with her national costume.

The Miss Universe Philippines 2014 came to the defense of the country's current contender in the 69th edition of the pageant, talking about the sheer weight of the costume, an elaborate winged ensemble that looks like something a Victoria's Secret angel would wear.

"21 kilos yung pakpak mga mars, kalma lang kayo. She carried it like it’s featherweight. Dami pa rin hanash haaaa. Dun tayo sa prelims totodo."

MJ also added that the headpiece could induce a stiff neck and how it's better for Rabiya not to potentially jeopardize her performance by wearing it.

"Mabigat ang headdress mga besh, okay lang 'yon. 'Wag i-sacrifice ang performance sa stiff neck, LOLZ. Ang mahalaga, bongga siya."

She also shared a screenshot of a convo wherein Rabiya thanked MJ for her support. "Beat her, hate her, but you can never break a determined woman with a pure heart," MJ captioned the tweet.

In an interview with MJ Felipe, Miss Universe PH National Director Shamcey Supsup explained that the heavy headpiece would keep falling off, which made them decide to make Rabiya more comfortable.

"Mabigat na rin yung wings niya in the first place. We're so sad na hindi nasuot, but still, Rabiya was able to give us a powerful performance."

Rabiya joins 73 international beauties in the ongoing Miss Universe preliminary competition held in Florida, USA. Amid the pandemic, the candidates entered a "bubble" as the competition officially began on May 9, Sunday. The Miss Universe 2020 coronation night will be broadcasted live on May 16 (May 17 in Manila).

Good luck, Rabiya! We're here for you, kween!
