The news that the popular Taiwanese drama, Meteor Garden, will be getting reboot was met with great anticipation, especially by fans of the original series. The F4 fever has already caught on in many Asian countries with the series premiering on July 9.
Angie Chai, who produced the original Meteor Garden series 17 years ago, told South China Morning Post, "The new rendition is re-adapted for the millennial generation—from the story, the script, to an on-demand viewing platform so that a new generation of viewers can enjoy this classic love story."
The new Meteor Garden introduces a fresh batch of F4 stars, composed of Dylan Wang (Dao Ming Si), Darren Chen (Hua Ze Lei), Connor Leong (Feng Mei Zuo) and Caesar Wu (Xi Men Yan), as the notorious bad boys on campus who first bully, then eventually befriend a simple girl, Shancai (played by Shen Yue).
By way of introduction, the boys performed their new song "For You" live for the first time. Dylan recently posted a clip of their performance on his Instagram account and based on the reactions from fans all over Asia, there are many who are already eagerly awaiting the reboot's release.
Since the OG fans did not have social media when the original series was released locally in 2003, the best way for them to show their support for their idols was to scream their hearts out and sing along to Mandarin lyrics at the F4 concert in Manila.
