Twitter user @alexcerado shared an Instagram Stories update posted by Hidilyn where the Olympic medalist asked for help in securing sponsors for the Olympic games.
“Hirap na hirap na [ako]. I need financial support,” Hidilyn wrote.
Hidilyn continued, “Sa tingin niyo okay lang kaya, nahihiya kasi ako pero try ko kapalan yung mukha ko para sa minimithi kong pangarap na maiuwi ang gold medal sa Olympics.”
Meanwhile, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Butch Ramirez said that the government has been supportive of Hidilyn. In a report from Inquirer, the PSC has spent P4.5 million to fund Hidilyn’s training in Hainan and Guangxi in China. Butch said, “Hidilyn receives support from the PSC and the Philippine Air Force being an enlisted personnel.”
Hidilyn won a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and is the first Filipino to take home an Olympic medal. In September 2019, Hidilyn is set to compete in the International Weightlifting Federation World Championships in Thailand, and it will be her final Olympic qualifier for the year, PhilStar reported.
