Meanwhile, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Butch Ramirez said that the government has been supportive of Hidilyn. In a report from Inquirer, the PSC has spent P4.5 million to fund Hidilyn’s training in Hainan and Guangxi in China. Butch said, “Hidilyn receives support from the PSC and the Philippine Air Force being an enlisted personnel.”

Hidilyn won a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and is the first Filipino to take home an Olympic medal. In September 2019, Hidilyn is set to compete in the International Weightlifting Federation World Championships in Thailand, and it will be her final Olympic qualifier for the year, PhilStar reported.
