WARNING: Contains Grey's Anatomy spoilers
For some weeks now, the ghost of McDreamy (AKA Grey's Anatomy's Dr. Derek Shepherd) has been roaming the earth like a lost soul. But he need wander no more, because Patrick Dempsey has just landed a HUGE film role… in Bridget Jones 3.
Yes, Patrick "dream-eyes" Dempsey (as we like to call him) is reportedly in final negotiations to star in Bridget Jones's Baby, the sequel to Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. It's though that the film will be based on columns written by author Helen Fielding, NOT on her third novel Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, according to Deadline.
When we spoke to Hugh Grant last October, he revealed that his involvement in a third movie was a bit of a "thorny area" and that there were "long battles" with the filmmakers over whether it should go ahead.
"They did have a script and it was all ready to go into production, but I always said I don't think it is ready and we had long battles. But I think they are going to go ahead and make one anyway, without me."
Hugh then confirmed that Daniel Cleaver was NOT going to be making an appearance and that he wouldn't be involved. "I am definitely not in, I'm out."
With Renee Zellweger set to return as Bridget and Colin Firth back as Mark Darcy, does this mean Patrick Dempsey will be filling the arrogant love-rival role? Either way, fingers crossed it involves him donning a doctor's coat again. We can dream.
