Rabin Angeles and Angela Muji are off to the big screen!
The Seducing Drake Palma stars will be pairing up once again for the remake of the South Korean movie, A Werewolf Boy.
In case you missed it, A Werewolf Boy captured hearts across Korea and worldwide. Its appeal goes beyond the touching storyline—the film owes much of its success to the unforgettable performances of its leads, Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Young. It also stands out as one of the earliest projects that showcased the two stars before they rose to massive fame.
The first teaser for the Philippine remake was announced during the Thanksgiving media conference of Seducing Drake Palma, which was Rabin and Angela's (a.k.a. RabGel) first project as a love team.
Rabin shared that he's both excited and nervous about the film. He admits feeling the pressure of stepping into a role originally portrayed by one of his idols, Song Joong Ki. "Itong project na to, sobrang kaba-kaba pa rin ako kasi hindi pa naman po ako ganoon kagaling umarte," he said during the media con.
Despite it being an adaptation, he's totally up for the challenge of showing something new to the viewers. "Sobrang solid ni Song Joong Ki, pero kailangan, may bago tayong ipakita. Hindi po natin dapat gayahin nang buo si Song Joong Ki," he stated.
Angela echoes the same sentiment as Rabin. "Nakaka-pressure din po na kailangan ma-differentiate namin yung characters namin from SDP to Werewolf. Dapat distinct po talaga," she explained.
The two rising Viva stars have reportedly begun filming for their new project, directed by Crisanto B. Aquino and produced by Viva Films.
The plot of South Korea's 'A Werewolf Boy'
In case you haven't watched the South Korean film (why not?!), we're here to keep you up to date! In the film, Joong Ki plays the role of Chul Soo, a werewolf.
Park Bo Young plays Suni, the young woman who discovers Chul Soo and takes him into her family’s countryside home. When they first meet, Chul Soo is ragged and behaves more like an animal than a human.
As Suni decides to teach him how to act and communicate, their friendship slowly blossoms into a love story. But just as they grow closer, their bond is put to the test when others begin to discover Chul Soo's true identity as a werewolf.
Rabin Angeles on top-billing a film for the first time
Of course, everyone's elated and thrilled about the new RabGel project coming our way—especially Rabin. Earlier this year, when Cosmo caught up with the up-and-coming actor, he shared that one of his greatest goals was to lead his first film.
After all, Rabin's a film enthusiast. It's what he'd want to keep doing in his career, if given a chance. "Pag [sinabing] Rabin Angeles, dapat lahat ng role nai-imagine nila. Lahat ng pelikula ko dapat blockbuster. Sana. Darating din tayo. Malayo pa," he told Cosmo.
Now, the chance is here, and he's not letting it go. "Yun po ang pinakahihingi ko. Gusto kong maipakita sa mga taong gagawin ko ang lahat para makaarte. Ibinigay sa atin ni Lord. Ibinigay rin ng mga boss, maraming-maraming salamat po sa kanilang lahat," he declared during the SDP media con.
Congratulations, Rabin and Angela! 🥳
