Richard Juan has been serving oppa-inspired looks for a while now on Instagram but did you know it was actually a South Korean actor who inspired him to enter the entertainment industry?
The Pinoy Big Brother alumnus revealed that seeing Hallyu superstar Kim Soo Hyun's successful career made him consider joining showbiz.
"It all started with Kim Soo Hyun. Idol ko siya. This guy looks like me and he's making it internationally. He's making it so big so parang naisip ko baka may chance na rin pala ako kasi ngayon uso na ito. This was around 2013 to 2014 na napansin ko na puwede ko pala ito gawin talaga na career," the actor-host shared during the Star Magic Black Pen Day media con on June 28.
He added, "Growing up kasi, hindi ko talaga na-imagine magiging artista ako. Especially on the big screen, you rarely see any Asian face and no one looks like me. Kaya never ko talaga na-imagine na magiging ganito ako but because of Korean dramas, K-pop music, and the Asian wave, ngayon nakikita ko na."
Richard also shared the kind of K-drama character he would like to portray.
"Start-Up was so good. Si Kim Seon Ho ang second lead. That was a show kasi na na-feel mo na parang mas gusto mo si Kim Seon Ho as the guy who ends up with the girl. So I want to play a role like that where you are the underdog but people are rooting for you."
The 28-year-old currently hosts his Spotify podcast Your dose of inspirASIAN. On June, Richard revealed he signed with Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent management arm.
