After months of breakup rumors swirling around Robi Domingo and Gretchen Ho, it was only this week that they confirmed their split by releasing a joint statement.
"There is too much happening for the both of us right now. We have to focus on our careers. There is no appropriate time yet for a relationship to grow. But we're not closing our doors on each other in the future," the statement read.
In an interview promoting his new show I Can Do That, Robi finally spoke to ABS-CBN about his breakup. Without getting into details, the Kapamilya host revealed that he and Gretchen mutually decided to end their relationship but stressed that they were both focusing on their respective careers, saying:
"So much has been going on. Ang dami niyang projects sa news department, sa Sports and Action. Ako I have this (I Can Do That) and may mga nilalatag na projects. We are just so happy and blessed. Pero we have decided na wala talagang time to grow 'yung relationship namin."
Robi spoke highly about Gretchen: "Ibigay din natin ang respeto na kailangan natin ibigay kay Gretchen kasi she's been one great person.”
Before Robi and Gretchen announced their breakup, rumors were linking Robi to his close friend Sandara Park which she swiftly denied. Robi then addressed the issue by denying any involvement of his friend with his recent breakup:
"I don't know [why I am being linked to Sandara]. We are good friends and kung ano man ang naririnig niyo, it's not true. Let's give the respect that Sandara deserves kasi she has given honor sa atin kahit nasa ibang bansa siya so I think 'yun ang kailangan natin ibigay sa kanya."
