Caitlyn Jenner reached out to Laverne Cox to thank her for her support on Twitter. Laverne has been an outspoken advocate for trans persons everywhere and recently wrote an unforgettable essay about Caitlyn and her impact on the community. "It feels like a new day, indeed, when a trans person can present her authentic self to the world for the first time and be celebrated for it so universally," Laverne said, noting that the struggle continues for most trans men and women who don't have the privilege she and Caitlyn both share.
On Wednesday, Caitlyn thanked Laverne for all the work she's done.
Laverne isn't the only one who has come out in support of Caitlyn since her appearance on the cover ofVanity Fair. Recently, Community star Joel McHale (who is hosting the ESPYs where Caitlyn will pick up the Arthur Ashe Courage Award) offered his support as well, calling her "courageous." Transparent creator Jill Soloway also had strong praise for Caitlyn.
"She's having a huge impact already and that will continue," Soloway told E! Online. "She's a hero."
