Taylor Swift sat down in an interview with Ryan Adams—you know, the artist who covered her entire 1989 album—for Taylor’s GQ cover story. In the video, the two good friends talk about their song writing process and what inspires them to write music.
Here’s the fun part: Taylor reveals that one of her 1989 tracks, “All You Had To Do Was Stay,” was actually inspired by a dream she had about her ex! OOOOH!
Taylor explains, “The song 'All You Had to Do Was Stay' [has] this really high-pitched 'Stay!' I had a dream that my ex showed up at my door, knocked on the door, and I opened it up and I was about ready to launch into like the perfect thing to say, and instead all that would come out of my mouth was that high-pitched chorus of people singing ‘Stay!’”
Well, I guess you really can find inspiration ANYWHERE. Even in a weird dream.
