One year after Taylor Swift won a civil case against ex-DJ David Mueller, the singer is overcome with emotion as she recalls the moment she was believed in court and the jury sided in her favor.

The 28-year-old star accused David of grabbing her bottom after putting his hand under her skirt during a pre-concert photo opportunity in 2013. Taylor emphasized that she wanted to fight the case not just for herself but for all women who have survived sexual assault and abuse.

"Looking back, this exact day a year ago, I was not playing a sold-out stadium in Tampa, I was in a courtroom in Denver, Colorado," Taylor told the crowd at her Reputation concert at Raymond James Stadium in Florida.

"I was there for a sexual assault case and this day a year ago was the day the jury sided in my favor and said that they believed me."

Taylor went on to thank her fans for their support and commended the survivors who have spoken out for their courage and bravery. She also admitted that she wasn't sure "what turn my life would have taken if people hadn't believed in me."

"I just think about all the people that weren't believed, or the people who haven't been believed, or the people who are afraid to speak up because they don't think they will be believed," she continued.

"And I just want to say that I'm sorry to everyone who ever wasn't believed because I don't know what turn my life would have taken if people hadn't believed in me when I said that something happened."

"I just wanted to say that we have so, so, so much further to go and I'm grateful to you guys for being there for me during what was a really, really horrible part of my life."

Taylor also apologized for not speaking publicly about the incident until now, which happened in 2013, but only became public in 2015 when David filed a defamation lawsuit against Taylor.

Taylor filed a countersuit alleging sexual assault and only asked for a symbolic $1 (P54) in damages from David. She later pledged to donate to organizations that help defend sexual assault victims.

"I just want to say I'm so happy to see you and to have you and to know you through the ups and the downs of my life. So, thank you for everything."

"Sorry, I just haven't really talked about it and I'm just really not composed at all," she added.
