Nigeria-based beauty pageant Miss Interglobal has announced a new winner following news that Thailand's representative has relinquished her crown due to personal reasons.
The Philippines' Miriam Refuerzo Damoah, who placed 1st Runner-Up in the competition held on December 4, has been named as the winner of the pageant.
According to an official statement from Miss Interglobal : "Nachita had recently informed us that due to personal reasons beyond her explanation, she will not be able to carry out her duties as Miss Interglobal 2021. Therefore, she is relinquishing her position."
"For this reason, after discussion, we as an organization have respected her decisions and the title of Miss Interglobal 2021 will be transferred to the 1st Runner-Up, Miriam Refuerzo Damoah of the Philippines," the statement continued.
They added, "We wish Nachita the best on her life journey, and also to Miriam, as she takes up the role of Miss Interglobal 2021."
In August, Miriam was selected to represent the Philippines in the competition. She wrote in an Instagram post, "Words aren't enough to thank you Lord for giving me this opportunity to represent my beloved home country, the Philippines. It's a heartfelt excitement to showcase and divulge what a Filipina can show on the international stage. Thank you so much Miss Interglobal for giving me this opportunity."
According to a report, Miriam joined the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant and was among the top 100 applicants but failed to make it to the Top 50 candidates.
