The cat is out of the designer bag. Based on the IMDB page of the film adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s bestselling book Crazy Rich Asians, Kris Aquino will play Princess Intan, an ultra-rich Malay princess who is one of the VVIP guests at the lavish wedding of Colin Khoo (Chris Pang) and Araminta Lee (Sonoya Mizuno). Colin is the best friend of the novel’s male lead, Nick Young (Henry Golding).
The Queen of All Media has dropped hints about her role in most-awaited movie. On her Instagram post on June 13, 2017, her caption reads, “Thank you for the assistance, @singaporeair. Hand-carrying my costumes with me. Thank you, @michaelleyva_ and THE @michael5inco for truly making me gowns befitting a ‘princess’—yes, flying to fulfill a dream. SHOOTING this week in Singapore. #ThankYouGod.”
A few days later, on June 15, 2017, Kris posted a photo of a crown with the line “Within each of us is a PRINCESS” and captioned it “Wear your crown with grace and dignity.” The tagged location is Singapore, where Crazy Rich Asians was being shot.
On July 25, 2018, Kris posted a photo of the invitation to the movie's Hollywood premiere, which will be held at TCL Chinese Theater on August 7.
According to her latest post, Kris is waiting for Warner Brothers to let her release a photo of her in a costume designed by Michael Cinco.
Crazy Rich Asians is set to hit Philippine theaters on August 22.
Update, July 29, 6:30 p.m.: Kris has just posted a scene of her in Crazy Rich Asians. Donning a yellow Michael Cinco gown, she is pictured with Constance Wu, who plays the female lead Rachel Chu.
