Sorry to say this, but in about two minutes you're going to regret learning the rap part of Spice Girls' "Wannabe." Because one of the song's co-writers discussed the true meaning behind some of those words, and it is NOT OKAY.
Speaking to the Daily Star, the writer revealed that Scary Spice's rap actually describes some of the girlband members' sexual preferences. Or more specifically: that Geri Halliwel and Mel C liked to have sex while high on ecstasy. So that's good to know.
If you look at the lyrics, they go as follows:
So here's a story from A to Z, you wanna get with me you gotta listen carefully,We got Em in the place who likes it in your face,We got G like MC who likes it on an… Easy V doesn't come for free, she's a real lady, and as for me, ha you'll see
"We got G (Geri) like MC (Mel C) who likes it on an... E" is essentially a clarification of what the lyrics say. Lovely stuff.
And if we're taking on this new analytical perspective, we dread to think what it's trying to say about Emma. At least Posh Spice came off lightly.
Yeah, so enjoy never listening to this in the same way again.
