Miss World Philippines crowned its newest queens yesterday, October 7, 2018. Out of 40 candidates, six lucky contestants won titles and some of them will be competing internationally very soon! Here's a guide to help you get to know them better:
Katarina Rodriguez (Miss World Philippines 2018)
Katarina Rodriguez, who placed third on Asia's Next Top Model in 2014 and won first runner-up at Miss Intercontinental 2017, will be representing the Philippines at the upcoming Miss World 2018 competition in Sanya, China! Katarina, who is 26, will succeed last year's winner, Laura Lehmann.
Maureen Montagne (Miss Eco Philippines 2018)
Maureen Montagne's previous titles include winning first runner-up at the Miss World America competition in 2017. She was also crowned Miss Arizona USA in 2015! The Fil-Am beauty, who's 25, moved to the Philippines after finishing her degree in marketing.
Alyssa Muhlach Alvarez (Reina Hispano Filipinas 2018)
The daughter of former basketball star Paul Alvarez and actress Almira Muhlach, Miss World Philippines 2018 was Alyssa Alvarez's first pageant! She belongs to a showbiz clan that includes Aga Muhlach and Miss Universe Philippines 1994 Charlene Gonzalez. 22-year-old Alyssa is also an accomplished singer.
Kimi Mugford (Miss Multinational Philippines 2018)
Kimi Mugford, who's only 18, is still a student. She's also a singer, an ice-hockey player, and an animal lover. Miss Multinational is a pageant that was founded in 2017 where Sophia Señoron represented the Philippines and brought home the crown.
Chanel Morales (1st Princess)
This year's Miss World competition was also Chanel Morales' first pageant. The Kapamilya actress, who recently appeared on FPJ's Ang Probinsyano andThe Debutantes, was also part of the talent search Artista Academy on TV5.
Pearl Hung (2nd Princess)
24-year-old Pearl Hung, an entrepreneur from Palawan, is also a motivational speaker!
