The global K-pop icons rang in 2026 by seemingly confirming the date of their long-awaited comeback, sending fans into a collective spiral of excitement. In a New Year message shared on Weverse, BTS dropped a cryptic but unmistakable clue—"2026.03.20"—paired with a sleek new logo. Almost instantly, ARMYs got the message: March 20, 2026 is the date.

As if that wasn't enough, BTS also wiped their Instagram feed clean, leaving behind only their iconic black-and-white logo. Their other platforms—Facebook, X, TikTok, and Weverse—soon followed with matching layouts. If you've been here long enough, you already know what that means: a new era is officially underway.

BTS 2026 Comeback Breakdown: Album, Messages, and World Tour

To put all speculation to rest, BigHit Music confirmed that BTS will release a new album with new music, marking their first full-group comeback in nearly four years. Their last group release was the anthology album Proof (2022), making this return even more emotional for fans who have been patiently waiting through solo eras and military enlistments.

While the members kept things intentionally low-key during their New Year's Weverse live, their excitement was impossible to miss. Jin shared his joy at finally greeting fans as a full team again, while Suga sent love and well-wishes for the year ahead, promising fun and good vibes: "I hope you all hit the jackpot this year. Let's have a great time together this year." J-Hope added his signature energy, celebrating the long-awaited reunion: "It's finally the year we get to be together!!! What I've been imagining is finally becoming a reality!! Let's be happy and have fun!!

Jimin expressed his gratitude to ARMY for their patience and unwavering support, hoping 2026 brings even more happiness, while V promised brighter memories and even bigger moments ahead: "Get ready, because in 2026, I'm coming to you with even more and even better memories!" Jungkook checked in warmly, sharing that his heart has always stayed the same and that he's working hard as ever, asking fans to continue their support this year. And of course, RM brought it all home with his trademark hype, declaring, "Bangtan is coming! BTS is coming!"

Alongside the album announcement, BigHit Music also confirmed that BTS is planning a large-scale world tour in 2026, which will take place after the album's release. This will mark the group's first time performing live as a complete group since 2022.

In their Weverse broadcast, the group summed it up best: "We hope we can make a safe comeback this year and that the album does well. Let's make BTS a huge success."

Update as of January 5, 2025, 11:30 a.m.: BigHit Music has since released more details about BTS' highly anticipated comeback. In a notice shared on Weverse last Sunday, January 4, the agency confirmed that BTS will release their fifth full-length album on March 20 at 1 p.m. KST, or 12 p.m. Philippine time, marking the group's first official album as OT7 in approximately three years and nine months.

The agency also revealed that the members were deeply involved in the creation of the album's songs, infusing their own thoughts, emotions, and personal journeys into the music. The 14-track record is said to feature "honest stories that BTS wants to share with ARMY," with the label describing it as music that feels most true to who BTS is today—and a heartfelt thank-you to fans who have stayed with them throughout the years.

The announcement alone was enough to cause a stir online, with domestic fans reporting that Weverse temporarily crashed due to a surge of users moments after the news dropped.
