ICYMI, back in 2022, BTS announced a temporary hiatus as each member fulfilled mandatory military service, which all able-bodied South Korean men aged 18 to 28 are required to complete.
It was a shocking pause and an emotional one for fans worldwide.
Though the timeline was uncertain, what hit the hardest was not knowing whether BTS would return as a full group.
"We can't help but think of our fans no matter whatâwe want to be the kind of artists that are remembered by our fans. I think now we're starting to think about what kind of artists we each want to be remembered by our fans," Jimin said at the time.
"I think that's why we're going through a rough patch right now, we're trying to find our identity, and that's an exhausting and long process. Our fans know us and we know us," he added.
ICYDK, BTS is one of the most well-known (and well-loved) boy bands in the K-pop industry. Even when the pandemic brought the world to a standstill, they stood stronger, delivering chart-topping hits and collecting major awards along the way, including Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles like "Dynamite," "Butter," "Permission to Dance," and "Life Goes On."
