ICYMI, for the past several months there have been several news reports regarding the contracts of BLACKPINK members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa.
On September 25, News1 reported that Jennie and Jisoo have each established their own individual agencies. The members are allegedly still discussing their group activities with YG Entertainment, while their own companies will be mostly for their individual activities. In response to the recent news report, YG Entertainment commented, "Nothing has been confirmed regarding BLACKPINK’s contract renewals and their future activities."
But now it's finally official: All four BLACKPINK members will be continuing their group activities with YG Entertainment! "After careful discussions with BLACKPINK, we signed exclusive contracts for group activities based on deep trust," the company confirmed on Wednesday, December 6.
YG Entertainment also shared a statement from executive producer Yang Hyun Suk: "We are happy to be able to continue our relationship with BLACKPINK. BLACKPINK will continue to do their best to shine even brighter in the global music market as artists representing not only our agency but also K-pop, and we send our unwavering support and faith for their future steps."
Additionally, with YG's support, BLACKPINK plans "to repay the love of fans around the world by releasing new music and holding a large-scale world tour."
We look forward to BLACKPINK's next chapter, and wish Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa all the best!
