ICYMI, Song Joong-ki And Katy Saunders Made Their Married Couple Debut For A Meaningful Cause

Fans of the Korean actor Song Joong-ki have noticed how much more private his life has become over the years, with most of his energy going into his career. So if you've been waiting for a little update on his love life—or should we say, his happily married life—he and his wife Katy Saunders just gave us a glimpse.

The couple recently made a public appearance and worked together for a meaningful cause. They took on narrator roles at the Gaon Soloists' 7th regular concert, Kinderszenen, held on April 18 at the Seoul Arts Center IBK Chamber Hall, in celebration of the Day of Persons with Disabilities.

As seen in an Instagram video shared by the organization, Joong-Ki and the former British actress Katy took turns reciting "The Elephant" during the opening segment, with Katy delivering the English lines and Joong-Ki following in Korean.

The event itself is rooted in something bigger. Gaon Soloists is an integrated chamber music group launched in 2021, bringing together musicians with and without disabilities. Their annual concert is part of the long-running celebration of the Day of Persons with Disabilities, now in its 46th year.

The group has steadily built its presence through performances at major venues like the Seoul Arts Center and LG Arts Center Seoul, along with outreach concerts for special education communities. In 2024, they were officially recognized as a Gyeonggi-do Professional Arts Organization and received an award from the Arts Council Korea for their fundraising efforts.

After the show, the couple was spotted mingling, taking photos, and catching up with members of the organization, including the evening's main guest, musical actress Kim So Hyun. It also wasn't their first time working with the group. A YouTube video released in March already featured Katy as a narrator, hinting that this collaboration has been in the works for a while.

Joong-ki has been one of South Korea's most recognizable actors for over a decade. He first gained wide attention through Sungkyunkwan Scandal in 2010, then reached global popularity with Descendants of the Sun in 2016, where he played Captain Yoo Shi Jin. At that time, Joong-Ki earned fan-favorite nicknames like the "Big Boss" and "Captain Yoo."

In recent years, he has taken on more varied roles, including a sharp-tongued consigliere in Vincenzo in 2021 and a revenge-driven heir in Reborn Rich in 2022.

Katy, on the other hand, built her career in European film and television before stepping away from acting. One of her earliest and most notable projects was The Lizzie McGuire Movie in 2003, while her role in the 2018 drama thriller Welcome Home was reported to be her last project so far.

The lovebirds first met through a mutual acquaintance and were later reported to work together on Joong-Ki's acting project. During the filming of Vincenzo, Katy assisted the Korean star with his Italian dialogue.

In early 2023, Joong-Ki confirmed their relationship, announced their marriage registration, and shared that they were expecting a child. They welcomed their first son in June 2023, followed by a daughter in November 2024.

Before this chapter, Joong-Ki was married to Song Hye-kyo, his co-star in Descendants of the Sun. Their 2017 wedding and 2019 divorce were widely covered at the time, with the reason cited as "differences in personality." But since then, his personal life has remained more low-profile.

Now, Joong-Ki and Katy appear to be happily enjoying their time together away from the spotlight, which makes this public appearance feel like a thoughtful and intentional moment to step out as a couple.
