Meet Your New Fitness Obsession: 5 Climbing Gyms To Try In Metro Manila

Published on Nov 18, 2025
If you've been craving a workout that actually feels like an adventure, consider this your sign to try climbing. Bouldering and rock climbing have become the new "it" fitness hobbyāequal parts full-body workout, brain teaser, and social hang. And the best part? You don't need to be an athlete to start. š¤
Metro Manila now has a growing lineup of beginner-friendly gyms where you can learn the ropes (literally), build strength, and surprise yourself with just how far you can go. Whether you're hunting for a new weekend routine or simply want to change up your fitness routine, these spots are perfect for you.
What's the difference between rock climbing and bouldering?
Climbing gyms are built for two main sports: rock climbing and bouldering. Rock climbing uses taller walls with ropes and harnesses, letting you climb higher while a belayer supports you from the ground to prevent injury. Professionals also do rock climbing in actual mountains.
Bouldering, on the other hand, takes place on shorter, artificial walls without ropes. Every route in bouldering is called a "problem" because you're solving a sequence of moves rather than simply going up. It usually demands explosive strength, coordination, and quick decision-making.
Both sports follow a grading system that tells you how difficult a climb is. In bouldering, you'll often see grades like V0, V1, V2, up to V5 and higher. The V-scale starts at V0 for the easiest problems.
If you want to explore the world of rock climbing and bouldering, here are five climbing gyms you can visit in Metro Manila:
