OMG! PatNes Just Talked About Their Future Goals And We’re So ~*Kilig*~

We’re still clutching our hearts from kilig over the engagement of Ben&Ben's Pat Lasaten and Agnes Reoma, better known together as “PatNes.” And of course, we just can’t help wanting to know more about the famed comfort couple, especially among the LGBTQIA+ community and their fans, the “Liwanags.” In a recent interview with PatNes, they talk more about the depths of their relationship and their goals for the future, and we have so many ~feelings~!

“We’ve been through a lot in our eight years together,” shared the couple. But even so, they have always emphasized trust and authenticity as the key factors in their strong, long-running relationship. “We both have our individual struggles, and what really helped us through them was making sure that we were each other’s best friend and safe space.”

On life wins and the key to a long-lasting relationship

When asked about their biggest wins, you would think they would mention their band’s many hit songs like “Paninindigan Kita,” which featured their loving relationship. But alas, what they had in mind was much more special. “I think our biggest win is finally being comfortable with being a couple in public.” They added, “We also really gave each other time and space to be comfortable with ourselves, and eventually, we became more comfortable together.” Awww!

According to the two, patience and understanding also played a big role in making their relationship work. When it came to having conversations about sensitive topics like finances before settling down, they made sure to talk about priorities in spending, living arrangements, financial independence from their own families, etc., especially when both of them made a firm decision to get married only when they were both stable in all aspects of their lives.

A tip for couples who plan to get married

PatNes shared one practical tip for couples who are all in the same phase of their lives: “Discuss your finances before tying the knot. We think this will save you a lot of trouble in the long run, so if you encounter problems along the way, you already know how to handle them.”

They added, “Your perspective on budgeting and saving matters, too. Being able to openly discuss finances isn’t easy, but it’s necessary.” With the couple’s life goals ahead of them, proper financial planning was something they emphasized and even encouraged Liwanags to do.

“We really just want to live a comfortable life with each other," they shared. "We’re currently working on the renovation of our new place." They continued, "As early as now, we’re also saving up for our dream home and for our retirement.” The couple also excitedly notes, “Of course, we’re also saving up for our civil union outside the Philippines. We also want to travel the world, and we’re lucky enough to do this with our closest friends, who happen to be our bandmates as well.“ Isn’t that so inspiring?
