Cosmo Recommends: Take Your Malling Experience To A Totally Luxe Level

Hordes of holiday shoppers make us dread going to the mall, but in Newport Mall, you can look forward to unwinding with friends and family--minus the busy crowds.

If you're thinking of spending some relaxing time with your guy, your barkada, or your family, the mall is probably the last place you can think of right now, with everyone else flocking to the nearest malls to do their last-minute Christmas shopping. Still, you know that in Metro Manila, the malls do tend to feel like it's Christmas every weekend, with the throng of mall-goers you find there, especially on payday weekends. So where should the stressed Cosmo chick go to do her shopping and enjoy her coffee or dinner in peace?

This weekend, or on any day you feel like hitting the mall sans the busy crowd, stop by the Newport Mall in Resorts World, Pasay City. A mall like any you've seen so far, it's incorporated into the Resorts world premises, giving you more of a luxe hotel feel upon entering, with its elegant, Mediterranean-inspired modern architecture and interiors. But don't let its majestic, classy vibe intimidate you--it has pretty much everything you would look for in a mall.

Shopaholics among you will love the chic high-end brands at the ground floor, as well as the popular fashion and beauty haunts at the third floor. Foodies and coffee lovers can hang out and dine at any of Newport Mall's restaurants and cafes. This is also where the increasingly popular new "it" gimik spot, Republic, is located. For a truly laid-back "al fresco" dining experience, hang out at the indoor piazza, which is actually air-conditioned. Here, you'd feel like you're dining "outside" without having to worry about the hot sun or the possibility of rain. The piazza is enclosed by a glass ceiling inspired by the Bugis Junction in Singapore, hence the outdoor feel.

Movie buffs can also enjoy the newest flicks in any of Newport Mall's state-of-the-art cinemas. All theaters are equipped with the latest Dolby Digital Audio technology. Seats are set up with a stadium seat layout so everyone enjoys an unobstructed view, while comfortably seated in soft Ferco rocking seats that come with arm rests, spacious leg room, and built-in cup holders. If you prefer an ultimate, in-your-face movie experience, try the Newport 3D Digital Cinema. Film-loving twosomes, on the other hand, will especially love the Newport Ultra Cinema. Its partitioned seats, unlimited soda and popcorn butler service, and fully reclining chairs will surely make your hot movie date luxurious, intimate, and totally unforgettable.

Also watch for the 1,200-seater Newport Theatre of the Performing Arts. The theater will debut never-before-seen musical productions, plays, circus acts, and acrobat shows. It'll also be a great venue for concerts, beauty pageants, and award ceremonies, so we can expect this to be one of the most happening places in the metro soon.
