Classy New After-School Dining And Gimik Spots!

Looking for a new hangout to unwind in after class? Or, hoping to treat your dad to lunch on Father's Day? Cosmo.ph checked out three new restaurants you must try at The Fort Strip.

As a new school year begins, it's important to secure your new hangout with your college barkada. The times you spent drinking with them after a long, grueling school week, or those well-attended celebratory dinners and parties you threw are as memorable as the lessons you learn from university. And, with Father's Day also falling this month, it's high time you check out new dining places to try with your family when you spend Sundays with them.

For college Cosmo chicks several years back, you may have remembered The Fort Strip as one of the go-to places when you and your blockmates were exploring the night life. Now, you and current college Cosmo chicks have three reasons to frequent this place once more: three new restaurants have opened to revive the once-fading glimmer and reclaim The Fort Strip's title as the hottest hangout in the metro. See what Craft, Katsu, and Scarlet have to offer as you read on below.

After-School Hangout

For those looking for a laidback venue where you can gather the barkada for a celebration (or simply unwind with your classmates), we suggest a visit to Craft Pub & Grill. The interior of the resto resembles a retro diner from the 1950s with its patent red booths and high barstools. Laugh your heart out while watching the collection of comedy and action films playing over the flat screen TVs mounted on the walls, or cheer for your favorite local band performing at the stage area in front of diners. It's certainly a place where you can kick back and relax.

And, the menu is just filled with guilty pleasures. Juicy burgers, spicy chicken wings (in eight varieties!), sinful cheese rolls, and flame-grilled steaks are just a few of the offerings to look forward to.  It's the ultimate college experience composed of friends, food, drinks, and music that will bring back nostalgic memories to those of us who've left our college years behind.

Father's Day Tip: Bond with dad by bringing him here for some steak or a burger paired with ice-cold beer!

Pre-Gimmick (Or Family) Dinner Place

For a more formal dinner setting (when you're all dressed up and ready to dance and drink the night away at a swanky club in The Fort), bring your college friends to Katsu Yakitori & Japanese Grill. The minimalist design is simple and relaxing—enough to give you your moment of peace as you feast before the wild party. The setting is also great for a romantic date night or even dinner out with your family. (Hint: Try this on Father's Day! Be sure to call for reservations.)

Their specialties are the Yakitori dishes: Japanese skewers in a variety of different forms. Beef, chicken, seafood, and veggies are charcoal-grilled and seasoned with special sauces, then served on barbecue sticks for easy eating. Try their sushi and specialty rolls made from fresh ingredients.

Hot New Night Spot

If you've been losing touch with your girlfriends, now is the time to call for a reunion. Plan a girls-only Friday night out at the Scarlet Wine Lounge, where you'll feel every bit like a VIP. Break out that fancy cocktail dress you've been saving and strut your heels on the red carpet (stairs!) of this stylish venue.

Recline in vintage leather couches or plush velvet booths, or hang out at their crisp outdoor balcony while sipping wine and cocktails with the gals. The cozy yet posh atmosphere encourages you to make dress-up cocktail nights with your girlfriends a regular ritual here. Signature sushi rolls and baked oysters complete the experience, giving you a taste of the good life at the end of a stressful week.
