New Dining Choices For You And Your Loved Ones Or College Barkada

We've got the dish on two restaurants that you must try on your next gimik, date, or family gathering.

It's lunch, and your mind's probably on one thing: FOOD! As you're planning where to eat lunch now, dinner on Friday, or family supper on Sunday, we know you're also on the lookout for new dining choices for your ever-fickle taste buds. There's also your companions (your burger-loving friends or your meat-and-seafood-loving family) to consider when making your selection.

Whichever the case, we suggest you try two fab restaurants that offer dining experiences suitable for barkada gimiks and family meals. Each one is sure to satisfy your craving for unique and delectable dishes, be it local or global.

Enjoy Fusion Food For The Whole Family

Whether it's your parents' anniversary, you and your honey's monthsary, sister's birthday, brother's graduation, or any other occasion you'd like to commemorate with your loved ones, you can't go wrong with the global dishes offered at Uncle Cheffy Brick-Oven BBQ. (Trivia: Cheffy is a term of endearment in the kitchen.)

The restaurant has a cozy and spacious interior decorated with artwork that adds to the homey feel. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, and even have a private function room for larger parties. With the huge servings of their dishes, you'll be tempted to invite the whole clan!

Newbies to the restaurant will be surprised by the sulit prices of Uncle Cheffy's dishes with huge servings that are meant to be shared with a group. Start with appetizers like grilled oysters (P295), crunchy calamares (P350), and different kinds of salads. Or, go for one of their soups that are good for four to five people, in a variety of flavors from around the world: explore some Celtic cuisine with their Irish Stew (P395) and Boiled Corned Beef (P395), or go Asian with Seafood Tom Yang (P410).

The pride and joy of Uncle Cheffy is their brick-oven thin crust pizza (a.k.a. panizza!), which also comes in culture-fusing flavors. Take, for instance, the East Meets West Panizza (P495), which is topped with parmaham, salami, kesong puti, salted eggs, tomatoes, mango, and three cheeses! If you want to stick to more traditional flavors, opt for the Uncle Cheffy Favorites Panizza (P395). You can customize it with various garnish and sauces meant to be rolled into the thin slices! You also have the option to have two flavors in one order, for the price of the more expensive panizza.

Their best-selling specialties are the Memphis Barbecue U.S. Beef Rib Finger (P595 for a huge serving of 1,000 grams), Garlic Studded Pork Belly Lechon (P95 per 100 grams), and the Lamb Breast Provencale Way (P110 per 100 grams). The meat dishes are known to be tender and flavorful, achieved through slow-cooking. If your family has differing tastes, try one of their combination barbecue platters served with house salad and plain rice.

Don't forget to finish your meal with a strong cup of coffee and their classic desserts with a twist! Your family will be talking about your scrumptious meal all the way home. Tip: Be sure to call for reservations, as their branches, particularly the one in Eastwood, tend to get really packed during dinner.

Uncle Cheffy is located at the second floor of Eastwood Mall, with other branches at Forbes Town Center in Bonifacio Global City, and Ali Mall in Cubao. Business hours are 10AM-11PM from Sunday to Thursday, and 10AM-12MN on Friday and Saturday. Call 383-7215 for reservations at their Eastwood branch and inquiries. For catering services, contact 381-3449 or 381-7716.

Eat With Your Hands At This Hot Hangout

Forget fast food—sometimes it's more fun to sit and enjoy a rich and huge meal with your best buds on a Friday night. For a casual yet filling dining experience with your barkada (or a laidback date with your BF), try the homemade sandwich creations at Chuck's Deli.

Inspired by sandwich hubs in the States, the restaurant interiors resemble a quaint retro diner that you'll love to unwind in after school. As an added bonus, they even offer free Wi-Fi! Get some work done or check your Facebook updates while you dig into their signature sandwiches. It's also ideal for lunch meetings (people normally order in advance, since the bread is half-baked and only cooked when you order). It offers great value for money because of the sheer size of each order, so college students on allowance or working girls on a budget would love the fact that they can share a meal.

The diner is best known for its "slabwiches": super sandwiches served fresh in 10-inch long Ciabatta and weighing roughly half a kilo! You and your friends can split dishes with creative names like The Buffy (a Buffalo chicken sandwich with garlic sauce, P255 for half slab, P445 for whole slab) or The Reuben (Angus corned beef with Swiss cheese, P275 for half slab, P495 for whole slab).

For an interesting take on the traditional burger, we recommend The Chorizo Burger (P225), which is made with a chorizo patty, tomato, lettuce, and spicy Chuck's sauce. If you love Boracay's famous chori burger, you are sure to love this beefed up version!

If you happen to be on a date with your man (or at least Date 4 or 5 with that hot new guy), we suggest you try a flatwich, a gratifying yet flat (read: can be eaten with poise) sandwich served on focaccia, fresh from their own oven, and served with home-made chips. Pair it with a sweet and creamy Arce Dairy Milkshake (P165), made with three scoops of Arce Dairy ice cream blended with carabao's milk!

Meanwhile, he would love a subwich for sure: huge sandwiches served on hoagies, also fresh from their oven, and served with home-made chips. He'd enjoy a trip down memory lane when it's paired with Rootbeer Float (P95), made with classic A&W Rootbeer and a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Better yet, pop two straws in and share either a milkshake or float with your man for a cute, romantic touch.

Another reason to visit Chuck's Deli is their selection of imported beverages like Cherry Coke, Dr. Pepper, Fanta Grape, and Mello Yello to complement your sandwiches, if you're not a fan of too-rich, creamy drinks.

Chuck's Deli is located at the ground floor of Eastwood Mall, with another branch at Serendra. Business hours are 11AM-10PM. Call 900-0503, 451-1163, or (0933)441-8622 for reservations and inquiries.
