Here's How To Be Sexy, Not Skanky

There's a fine line between being sizzling hot and super trashy.

With today’s trends in makeup and fashion, the times when crop tops and plunging necklines were frowned upon are long gone. And most guys would agree that it’s not such a bad thing. We love that women today have learned to embrace their femininity and celebrate their bodies. But, the new unspoken rules for sexy make it harder to discern when you’ve traversed into tramp territory. We’ve come up with some ideas to help you determine where the boundary lies. Read on and use them to your benefit.

1. Keep makeup to a minimum.

Too much makeup reminds us of the places we go to where the lights are dim and the beer is expensive. We know this much: The point of makeup is to highlight your features, not exaggerate them. People are very much interested in seeing what you look like without all the gunk.

2. Less skin is more.

Don’t get us wrong. We like seeing the skin you worked so hard to exfoliate, moisturize, and protect from the sun. The idea here is not to expose too much. Showing a little cleavage is sexy, but showing off everything but the areola is not. To be safe, keep the exposure tasteful and teasing.

3. Ease up on the alcohol.

We like a girl who knows how to enjoy a night out. And this includes the good stuff: shots, cocktails, wine, and beer. Drinking works best when everyone is on the same level of inebriation, because people are more relaxed and less inhibited. The one or two people who end up drinking too much and getting wasted can wreck this vibe. You don’t want to be one of them. There’s a world of difference between getting a buzz and rolling to the beats of The Weeknd, and being grossly drunk and rolling in your own vomit.

4. Be affectionate, not embarrassing.

There’s a reason why some parts of a club are dark, and it’s not because they’re trying to save up on their Meralco bill. If a hunky guy hits on you and you feel a connection, there’s no reason to hold back and just stick with holding hands (unless you’re taken, of course). However, through the haze of alcohol and hormones, always remember that you’re still in a public place. Light kissing that doesn’t linger is fine, but tongue action and groping will put you in skank city.
