You’re no longer basking in the wild ignorance that is the early 20s, but you aren’t “old” enough to be considered part of the adult club that the 30s brings. You’re stuck in the middle and you don’t know where else to go. Fear not, Cosmo girl, you are NOT alone.
By now you’ve already encountered a series of adult problems like finding your first apartment or dealing with government procedures that no one ever taught you about in college. You already feel the pressures of being an adult, but really don’t know what that means, exactly.
Here are a few tips on how to deal with being 25!
Your life is your own and no one else’s
Yes, some of your batchmates have been getting engaged. Your Facebook feed is full of posts of engagement rings and bridal showers with captions “Future Mrs. X.” Girl, no one is pressuring you to settle down with your one true love. Take it in stride. If marriage is for you, it’ll happen. If it isn’t, then there’s nothing wrong with that!
Your kabarkada purchased her first brand new car and you’re still driving your dad’s old sedan? That just means her priorities are different from yours. Comparing your accomplishments with people your age isn’t going to help. We all bloom in time; it just takes a little longer for some.
Don’t stop looking
Found something you’re good at? That’s wonderful. But just because you know you’re good at one thing doesn’t mean you have to stop looking for another. You have a great career in PR, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay in that field forever. You’re young and 25 and your calling may be to become a makeup artist. On the other hand, if you’re stuck in a job that you hate and are just in it for the money, then you aren’t living your life to its full potential. Quitting that dreary job may just be the best decision you’ll ever make. Now is the time to explore and take risks.
You’ve made a lot of mistakes in the past and some which you’d rather erase from your memory. You’ve stumbled, fallen, and crawled your way to where you are right now and that is an accomplishment in itself! But do remember that making mistakes is part of life. By taking a wrong turn, you’ll find out where you’re supposed to be headed. There’s no need to be perfect and there is no manual on how to be an adult. You’ll find your way eventually, ‘cause my dear, you’re only 25.
