Cooking has never been easy but thanks to YouTube, there are tons of recipes and tutorials that can help you out. In fact, some of these videos are even posted by our favorite celebs (Read: Attention, Pasta Lovers: Here's Marjorie Barretto's Simple Carbonara Recipe or Your Next Food Experiment: Erwan Heussaff's Korean Fried Chicken Recipe).
Pinay vlogger Allyn Mondido Balaba, aka Indai Allyn, does the same. She's a bisaya from Iligan City, Lanao del Norte who shares Visayan recipes on her YouTube Channel, Indai Allyn Simple Life Cooking. But more than preparing dishes like nilagpang, kilawin, and arroz caldo, she runs a weekly feeding program in her barangay where she provides meals to over 100 children in need.
"Nung bata pa lang talaga ako, pangarap ko na talaga makapagluto [at makapagbigay] sa mahihirap na katulad lang din namin," Allyn said. When the pandemic happened, she made it a goal that once her YouTube channel gets monetized, she'll share her blessings with other people. Now with over 170,000 subscribers, Allyn gets to do her feeding programs three times a week. (Sobrang galing!)
The desire to help others was actually inspired by Allyn's dad. "Matulungin si Papa so na-inspire ako," she added. "I want to spread positivity [and] spread kindness. I want to inspire [others] to do the same."
