ICYDK, You Can Now Slide Into Someone's DMs... On Spotify(!)

Back then, making a playlist was the ultimate love language and now, Spotify is stepping it up with its new direct messaging (DM) feature. You can still send them that perfectly curated playlist, but this time, you can also tell your crush exactly how you feel, all within the app. Sounds like the ultimate gamechanger for lover girls and boys everywhere! 👀

According to Spotify, the DM feature has been a long sought feature among dedicated users. A lot has been requesting for a "dedicated space within the app to share songs, podcasts, or audiobooks they’re excited about with friends and family, and an easy way to keep track of recommendations." 

"For artists, authors, and creators, easier sharing means more word-of-mouth recommendations and helps create new fans," Spotify announced.

"Our goal is to give users what they want and make those moments of connection more seamless and streamlined in the Spotify app," it added. 

The new DM feature is set to roll out on "in the coming days." However, this will only be available for users age 16 and up. P.S. You're not limited to just songs—you can now slide into DMs with your fave audiobooks and podcasts, too.

The good thing is Spotify is giving you the freedom to control the feature. According to their press release, just like other messaging apps, you have the choice to accept and reject message requests from other users. Ensuring that everyone gets a secured sharing experience, Spotify said that "conversations are protected with industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest."

"This is just the beginning. We're excited to continue building and refining the experience for more Spotify users around the globe in the months ahead," Spotify expressed. 

You can only DM people you've already interacted with on Spotify. Once they accept your request though, it's a full-on chat.
