For all students, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and senior citizens, now is the perfect time to upgrade your Beep card!

ICYDK, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has already begun rolling out discounted Beep cards at LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 stations starting September 20.

Unlike the regular blue Beep card, the discounted version comes in white and is personalized with the cardholder's name and classification—whether student, PWD, or senior citizen.

"Simula 10:00am bukas, September 20, maaari nang mag-apply ng white beep cards ang mga estudyante para automatic nang makakuha ng 50% discount sa LRT-1, LRT-2 at MRT-3," the DOTr said in a Facebook post.

"On-the-spot na rin ang printing ng white beep cards, pati na para sa mga senior citizen at mga persons with disabilities (PWDs)," it added.

How To Avail The Discounted Beep Card

To get your white discounted Beep card, simply visit any LRT-1, LRT-2, or MRT-3 station. Take note, however, that the DOTr has capped the distribution at 100 cards per station per day on a first-come, first-served basis, available only from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.

Don't forget to bring the required IDs: students must present their school ID or a valid enrollment form, senior citizens must show their Senior Citizen ID, and PWDs must bring their PWD ID.

The card costs PHP 30 and can be processed at the station booth with on-the-spot printing so you can take it home within minutes.

Just like a regular Beep card, the white version can be loaded through station kiosks or financial apps and used seamlessly across trains and partner establishments.

Former DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon earlier explained that for students, the discounted card is valid for one year but can be renewed by presenting an updated school ID or enrollment form. For PWDs and senior citizens, however, the card has no expiration cap.
