Time To Book That Trip: Taiwan Extends Visa-Free Entry For Filipinos Until 2026

Filipino travelers will have another year to explore the sights, sounds, and flavors of Taiwan without the need for a visa. According to Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the trial visa-free entry policy for citizens of the Philippines has been extended once again—from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026.

First introduced in 2017, the visa-free initiative is part of Taiwan's efforts under the New Southbound Policy (NSP), aimed at deepening ties with Southeast Asian nations. Since its implementation, the policy has been renewed annually, with the most recent extension reaffirmed during an inter-agency meeting held by MOFA on April 16, 2025. During the session, officials conducted a comprehensive review of current visa regulations, focusing on ways to enhance travel access while maintaining security.

Along with the Philippines, travelers from Thailand and Brunei will also benefit from the visa-free extension, which runs from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026. The program allows passport holders from these countries to stay in Taiwan for up to 14 days without a visa, provided they meet certain requirements such as a valid passport with at least six months’ validity, proof of onward or return travel, and no criminal record.
