These days, it's not uncommon to see someone on your feed with a picture of an airplane or a video of a plane taking off or landing. Oh yes, there's a travel bug going around, and air travel is the best way to scratch the itch. Lucky for us, airlines keep outdoing each other in offering the best services, the most comfy seats, and more—which is why the experience of flying just keeps getting better. Can't choose which one to fly with? Skytrax's latest list of the World's Top 100 Airlines should give you a good idea which airlines to best fly with.

Here's what you need to know about Skytrax's list of best airlines:

For the uninitiated, Skytrax, a UK-based aviation consulting company, releases a list of the who's who in the world of aviation annually.

Dubbed the "Oscars of the Aviation World" Skytrax's World's Top 100 Airlines list results from the company's yearly Customer Satisfaction Survey, which polls passengers worldwide to spotlight their favorites.

The online survey enables customers to select the airline they consider the best. Passengers rate them on a scale of 1 to 5 for different facets of the air travel experience. The survey includes questions on cabin service, ground service, onboard products, and amenities. One of the key features of the survey is the value-for-money rating.

Over 100 different nationalities responded to a survey covering more than 325 airlines. No payment or reward of any kind was made to survey respondents, and all submissions were made on a voluntary basis.

In 2025, Qatar Airways topped the World's Top 100 Airlines list. This is their second consecutive year as the leader of the pack, after dethroning Singapore Airlines (SQ) last year. SQ continues to rank 2nd this year, followed by Cathay Pacific in 3rd place.

Aside from the Top 100 list, Skytrax also recognizes airlines in different categories based on the results of the same survey. EVA Air is this year's World's Cleanest Airline; Cathay Pacific bags the distinction of having the World's Best Economy Class and the World's Best Inflight Entertainment, while Qatar Airways has the Best Business Class. AirAsia is also recognized as the World's Best Low-Cost Airline.

The World's Top 100 Airlines list also recognizes independent airport lounges with the Plaza Premium Lounge in Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome bagging the top spot. It's followed by the Chase Sapphire Lounge in LaGuardia Airport and the American Express Centurion Lounge in John F. Kennedy Airport, in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.

Noticeably absent from the list are Filipino-owned airlines, airport services, and lounges. In 2024, the Philippines' flag carrier, Philippine Airlines, ranked 96th on the list, but it appears we've lost our footing in this front. No worries, we just have to do better next time.
