Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many industries had to make adjustments with their structure and manpower. It's no secret that a lot of companies suffered and as a result, some had to let go of their employees in order to cope. Unfortunately, Pinay Kristine Diane Cajes Rosal was one of those who were greatly affected.
Losing a job in the middle of a pandemic is definitely a crippling situation to be in. Not having a steady income can cause emotional stress, fear, and anxiety. These feelings are all valid. But at the end of the day, know that there are ways a person can get through this tough time. It's possible that you can start a side hustle or explore a new hobby. For Kristine, she turned to making silent vlogs.
What are silent vlogs?
Unlike the usual vlogs that we know and watch from our fave content creators, silent vlogs barely show faces of people. Popularized by countries like Korea and Japan, most of the time, the videos focus more on the activities that are being done. Kristine mentioned that this is actually pretty unique to the Filipino culture because Pinoys are so used to talking and being in front of the camera! With silent vlogs, viewers get to notice the *small details* instead.

Krisitine shared that getting laid off from her job really had an emotional impact on her. "Naging mahirap yung transition [ko] from working housewife to full-time housewife," she added. But luckily, she found an acitivity that made her feel better. "When it comes to recovering from emotional and mental stresses, I think malaking tulong din yung nag-start ako ng silent vlogs. It's not just for the viewer that they find peace and calm sa silent vlogs, kundi sa akin din po as a creator," she explained.
Her silent vlogs are uploded on her YouTube channel, Simple Dee. Most of her videos are all about home experiences and slow living. She makes sure to highlight daily activities inside the house (like cooking, gardening, and home decorating) to make it relatable for everyone who's been spending a lot of time at home these past few months. "Through my vlogs, gusto ko mai-share how we can live more intentional and mindful not just for our own, but also for others and most especially, for our environment."
