On October 6, following her implication in the sexual harassment case showbiz reporter Gretchen Fullido filed against members of the ABS-CBN news organization (particularly Cheryl Favila, former TV Patrol supervising producer, and Maricar Asprec, a segment producer), ABS-CBN News Executive Ces Drilon posted her statement on the matter on Instagram.

The post reads:

"It pains me to have to issue this statement because women should support each other especially in an issue like sexual harassment.

"Throughout my life, I have been an advocate of women’s rights and women empowerment. As a victim of sexual harassment once before, it is unthinkable for me to say what Gretchen Fullido alleges I did.

"I encourage and support women to exercise their right to come out with truthful stories of harassment and abuse, and I would never belittle any such move.

"I was asked to testify in an internal, confidential investigation, and some of what I said during the investigation has been distorted.

"I reserve the right to consider legal proceedings against these false accusations and attack on my reputation. Again, I would never belittle any woman coming out to speak of any abuse committed against her. It is everything I stand for as a woman.'

According to ABS-CBN News, in her libel complaint, Gretchen alleged that Ces “resorted to victim shaming and imputed statements that [Gretchen] deserved to be harassed, since [she] allegedly was willing to wear a bikini [in] an inflatable pool with bubbles to shove up the ratings of TV Patrol.”

After receiving comments from people who were questioning her involvement in the case, Ces replied “DO NOT BE SO QUICK TO CONDEMN!” to user @marykay_ph, who had written, “Screams of women empowerment in public and victim shames women in private!”

Showbiz reporter Marie Lozano—who is also named in Gretchen’s complaint for allegedly damaging her reputation for saying her administrative complaint was a way to leverage her employment status in the network—has disabled comments on her Instagram account.
