A 35-year-old man has married a hologram of his favorite virtual reality singer, Hatsune Miku. And we're still processing this piece of information.

Said man is Akihiko Kondo, a school administrator. His bride, Miku, is a 16-year-old female animation with turquoise eyes and hair.

According to Insider, Kondo keeps a hologram of Miku in his home; the hologram "wakes him up, turns on lights, and interacts with him by talking." He also has stuffed toys of Miku, one of which he keeps in his bed.

Kondo had to pay two million yen (or P938,000) to have the wedding. His family didn't attend, but there were 40 guests at the ceremony. Gatebox, the company that made Miku, issued a "cross-dimension" marriage certificate, but technically, the union isn't exactly legal.

In the past, Kondo experienced bullying from women and was determined never to get married. He changed his mind after a decade with Miku, telling AFP, "Miku-san is the woman I love a lot and also the one who saved me." He continued, "I believe we must consider all kinds of love and all kinds of happiness."
