According to a report from Manila Bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) recorded the temperature drop at 6:10 a.m. at the PAGASA Science Garden In Quezon City.
Meanwhile, Inquirer.net reported that the temperature in Baguio returned to 11.4 degrees Celsius which was recorded at 5:00 a.m on January 22 at PAGASA’s synoptic station in the summer capital. The same temperature was first recorded on January 4.
PAGASA declared the start of the "amihan" season on October 24, 2019. State weather bureau administrator Vincent Malano said that the start of the Amihan season "is marked by the strong to gale force northeasterly winds which prevail over the seaboards of Northern Luzon due to the strengthening of the high-pressure system over Siberia."
