Do you find it cumbersome carrying multiple IDs every day? Soon, you may only need to bring just one ID to replace your multiple government-issued IDs.
Today, Malacañang announced that it would begin the pilot for the national identification system beginning September up to December 2019.
The national ID system, under Republic Act 11055 or the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys Act), aims to replace the need for redundant government-issued IDs, and to reduce corruption. It covers both Filipino citizens and foreign residents. The National ID law was signed by President Duterte in August 2018
The national ID or Phil-ID will require information such as the cardholder’s name, address, date of birth, sex, blood type, and biometric information. The government aims to register 107 million Filipinos by the end of the President's term in 2022.
