Going to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for whatever reason has become a whole-day affair at this point. Between the traffic and the waiting, not to mention the paperwork, who has that kind of time? Well, some good news: You can now renew your driver’s license remotely—and yes, even your medical exam and payment can be accomplished right on the internet. Here’s how it works.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has officially rolled out online driver’s license renewals through the eGovPH app, where other digital IDs like the National ID and ePhilHealth card can be found. According to LTO Chief Asec. Vigor Mendoza II, the goal is to make the renewal process faster, more efficient, and more accessible—even to Filipinos overseas.

GUIDE:
How to renew driver's license via eGovPH app
First, download the eGovPH app from the App Store or Google Play. Once installed, you'll need to create an account and complete the app's security verification to protect your personal information.
From the home screen, tap the NGAs icon and scroll to find the Land Transportation Office. This ensures you're directed to the correct service portal inside the app before starting your application.
2. Prepare the requirements.
Before applying for renewal, you need to complete two online requirements via the Online Driving Licensing Renewal System (ODLRS). When you begin the application process, a notice will appear showing all the prerequisites for renewal.
Book and undergo a telemedicine medical examination through the Telemedicine option on the site. Choose from a list of accredited clinics, register, and book the teleconsult. During your appointment, a licensed doctor will evaluate you virtually. Then complete the Online Driver’s Enhancement Program (ODEP), which can be accessed directly from the portal by choosing "Open" under Safe Roads PH. This second step will take five hours.
Both certificates have to be submitted as part of your online application.
3. Fill out the renewal application.
Once you've secured your requirements, open the eGovPH app. Go to the NGA Services section and select LTO, then tap on Online Driver's Application and choose Renew Your Driver's License. The app will prompt you to upload or capture photos of the front and back of your physical license. Wait a minute or two for the system to validate your information.
You'll also be asked to take a photo of yourself following the specific format that will be shown on screen.
4. Pay the renewal fee.
You'll be redirected to the payment section once your application is confirmed. Simply choose your preferred payment gateway and pay the corresponding fee. You will receive a confirmation text message from the LTO once your license is officially being processed.
5. Access the electronic license.
Your renewed version of your driver's license will automatically appear in your eGovPH app account. This electronic driver’s license (eDL) is considered just as valid as the physical card, which means LTO enforcers should accept a motorist's eDL as a valid form of authorization to operate a vehicle on the road.
eDL holders will "have the same privileges and responsibilities accorded to holders of a physical driver's license" under LTO Memorandum Circular No. HAV-2023-2410. This includes, but are not limited to, rules on traffic violation and imposition of fines and penalties.
6. Optional: Get the hard copy of the driver's license.
If you still want a hard copy of your license, you have the option to book courier delivery or choose a nearby LTO district office for pickup—whichever works best for you. The app gives you the option to select what's most convenient.
